Meeting with the local women; the future

In the last post, we talked about a meeting.

It is one of the first steps in the second phase of our activities. We are now an official NGO, the Al Numeira Environmental Association, and we can now start projects on a different scale. This meeting is the beginning of such a new project: our aim is the empowerment of the women of the local community, by making them able to have an autonomous source of income.

The idea is to make them benefit from abilities that they are already excel in: traditional cooking and handcraft. Our vision of the future is to make this community into a ecotourism center, where people from all over the world can come and stay in local houses as guests, experiencing the surrounding area and the local traditions. To find the best way to do so, we met some representatives of the local women to talk about their ideas and needs. In the near future we will conduct a survey to have specific datas on their needs, in order to help them in the best possible way.
