Permaculture الزراعة المعمرة

Our garden at Al Numeira is based on a permaculture design by emphasizing relationships found in natural ecosystems. Using the water from our greywater system and natural fertilizer from organic compost, we grow our own food (fruits, vegetables, and spices) without using chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Permaculture illustrates how smart agricultural systems can conserve water, limit pollution, and increase diversity. This is especially important in the region, where local farmers are draining the wadi aquifers that replenish the Dead Sea, and the chemicals wash into the sea after irrigation.

We are also working on the construction of an integrated forest and garden, combining diverse trees and crops adapted to the arid climate of the region. The intentional use of different trees helps to build an ecosystem that is more productive, diverse, and sustainable.

Additionally, we aim to improve the quality of the soil through the use of natural manure and mulch. Adding these components helps to protect the soil, increase rain water absorption, reduce water evaporation, and generate a nutrient bank.

تعد الزراعة المعمرة من النظم الزراعية الذكية التي تستطيع أن تحافظ على الحد من التلوث للمياه، و زيادة التنوع. والجدير بالذكر إن الزراعة في المناطق المجاورة يتم فيه استنزاف كميات كبيرة من المياه، سواء مياه السدود أومياه الوديان أو الميـــــاه الجوفية والتي بدورها تقوم على تغذية البحر الميت للحفاظ على ديمومته إذ تعــــــــد مصادر رفد البحر الميت قليلة جدا.

وتعمل الجمعية على تطوير مزرعة و حديقة متكاملة، بزراعة أنواع من الأشجار و المحاصيل التي تتكيف مع البيئة الجافة للمنطقة. والنظام المعتمد على زراعة أشجار مختلفة يساعد على بناء نظام بيئي أكثر إنتاج، وتنوع وأكثر استدامة.

بالإضافة إلى ما ذكر سالفا، نحن نهدف إلى تحسين نوعية التربة من خلال الأسمدة الطبيعية و النشارة. فهذه المكونات تساعد على حماية التربة وزيادة امتصاصها لمياه الأمطار والاحتفاظ برطوبتها، والحد من تبخر المياه، وتوليد مصرف للمغذيات، كما هو موضح في البوم الصور.
